UGC Fast Start

STEP 1: INTRO TO UGC 💻

What is UGC?

Before you create anything, it’s important to understand what UGC (User Generated Content) actually means.

UGC is authentic, relatable content created by real people not actors or models to help brands connect with their audience. It can be videos & photos, but remember you have to be in the content before it can be UGC , your hand, face, hair. Think about it like this if the brand can film this content on their own it is not UGC.

STEP 4: Build Your Portfolio💡

Your portfolio is your business card. It shows brands what you’re capable of and why they should work with you. Here’s what you need:

1️⃣ Canva Pro: Use this to design a simple and professional portfolio website.

2️⃣ Domain & Email: Buy a domain name and set up a professional email address linked to it.

3️⃣ Example Videos: Create 4 to 6 sample videos to showcase your style and creativity.

💡 Tip: If you’re completely new (or even if you already have some experience), make sure to join the live sessions on Iqonic of our own UGC educator in Dutch and English Chelsey, there she guide you step by step on how to build your portfolio from zero.

STEP 5: LEARN TO PITCH 📚

Pitching is one of the most important skills as a UGC creator it’s how you get brands to notice you.

✨ Start local: reach out to small businesses in your city.

✨ Start familiar: pitch to businesses you already know and love.

✨ Start simple: offer to create a video in exchange for a product or service to build your experience.

✨Search for brand who already worked with UGC creators it will be much easier to get accepted.

The more pitches you send, the better you’ll get and the more opportunities will come your way.

STEP 6: Know the Types of UGC Collabs 📚

There are 2 main types of collaborations you’ll come across:

A) Gifted Collaborations

You receive a product in exchange for the content you create (videos or photos).

B) Paid Collaborations

You get paid for your content and often receive the product too.

Where to Find Collabs

If you’re based in Belgium or the Netherlands:

• Download the app Hyred or Speekly to find collaborations.

If you’re outside of Belgium or The Netherlands:

• Sign up for apps like Influee, Fiverr and Facebook groups like UGC Community, UGC Collabs, or UGC Belgium & Netherlands.

• Brands often post opportunities there making it much easier to land your first deals.

Final Tip: Focus on Experience

Every piece of content you create helps you grow. In the beginning, don’t be afraid to do a few collabs for free they’re an investment in your skills, portfolio, and future paid deals.

The goal? Learn the full UGC process from pitching to delivering high quality content and build a strong foundation for your business.
